I’ve owned Jack Russell dogs since 1967. Love
them or loth them, I love my Jack Russell’s; they may be a small dog. However,
what they lack in size they make in character. With their boundless energy,
stamina, & fearlessness they can have you pulling your hair out one minute,
then have you rolling about with laughter the next minute. Never two Jack
Russell’s are the same they all have different temperaments and
characteristics.
Sweep’s thirteen and the leader of the bunch, with her
butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth looks is the top dog.
They soon find out who’s boss when they get on the wrong
side her.
Bobby’s ten, Sweep’s his mother and the smallest of the Rat Pack, but sees himself as twice the size. He is totally fearless. He’s also taken to impersonating Meerkats after seeing them on the TV adverts.
Broome’s is Sweep’s half-brother he is totally different
again. He thinks he is a Teddy Bear. When you stroke him or try to pick him up,
he will growl just like a Steiff Teddy Bear. However, it’s all
a front he has never ever bitten anybody. He just likes trying to be the Alpha
male of the tribe.
Polly (Polly Pocket) is a right little Madame, is ten and
from the same litter as Bobby. Polly’s owners are very dear friends of mine. The
friendship goes back over forty years’. It’s as well she doesn’t see The Rat
Pack that often, because they would soon lead her astray. I don’t think that
would go down well with her owners Roy and Lynn.
Sammy’s a cross breed, half Cairn Terrier & Jack
Russell. He’s ten years old and a right head case if he had brains he’d be
dangerous. When Sammy and Broome meet up
with each other usually on most days you would think they hate each other, when
they start fighting and rolling about ,
tucking and pulling each other about but no harm ever comes of it. Sammy’s the
biggest of them all, for a small sized dog he can run fast. I once saw him
chase a Hare over a couple of fields that surround us; admittedly he never
caught the Hare but the Hare was never far in front of him. Sammy lives next
door and belongs to my son, when he’s working I look out for Sammy.
